Out With The Old. In With The New!

Zach! What have you been up to?

Oh! Thank you made up stranger whom I simply made up to make it seem as though someone cares. A LOT!

You is correct if you haves guessed a lot and you win the golden skull, not real or anything or was anyone but simply a replica of a real one for scientific purposes that I had nothing to do with so take those judging eyes off of me and my amazing body.

I hate saying this at times but all those old projects I was working on at the time are done and will most likely never be finished nor would I have the desire to try and finish them and it's not because
I just quit but because I just got my computer back from the repair guy and I had a faulty hard drive and I ended up losing everything I was working on including my wedding pictures and pictures of my son when he was born on up. So yeah! I'm not going to work on them simply cause I can't and I'm not wasting thousands of dollars to try and retrieve data from a broken hard drive and they were dead end projects to begin with and also because I'm already working on new projects as it is.

These projects are new and exciting but are also very frustrating to say the least and I've finally went from a solo project creator to working with a team of people again and oh my! I forgot how frustrating it is working with people...

It's funny how you invite some people into something you have created and you could just as easily do it all yourself but then you add people in who then get to big for the pants they are wearing and then start to try and take over and forget their place and DRAMA, DRAMA, DRAMA!

And don't let me get started on how big of a technical nightmare these new
Projects have been.

So what are these projects and why should I care and if I did Clare where could I found?

Well That is top secret at this point and mainly because it's going to be a while until we actually release anything. I'm playing the catch up game before I release content and I'm also recovering from having to go back to square one with these projects because of certain dramatic reasons.

Well I'm gonna go ahead and jet. I'll update you as soon as I feel like it.

Lazy Progress/ Computer Issues

There's... Something on the wing!... Some... Thing!

I've had some lazy bones lately but I think it's mainly because I'm too tired from all the house cleaning.

My place always seems to stay a wreck no matter how much I clean it.

I've had my wife's little sister over a couple of weeks ago and I never knew how dirty and how many messes a teenage girl can make in just one day.

Funny story. I just finished the dishes and it was a mountain of everyone's dishes I just finished the dishes and my wife's little sister had the audacity to just put a dirty bowl covered in ramen noodles followed by a noodle covered fork with a glass with Mountain Dew in it.

SERIOUSLY!?

Gah! Ggghhh!!!... Sigh... Mmmmaaaahhhh!!!

So I washed the dishes...

Well I've been working on several projects lately and it's been consuming most of my free time. I've been working on a turn base trading card game. Nothing biggie or anything but I've always wanted to do one and since I haven't had much ideas lately and I've put several project on hold and some I just gave up on I figure I draw something In my spare time.

This way I practice certain different art styles, characters designs and different stuff and go ahead and put it into a card game and give it a purpose.

I can't say much more now because I want most of it to remain a surprise but I have been doing one card a day and will let it out with a starter pack as a promotional game. I will be updating the cards day after day.

Also me and Kevin Berry both put together an audio Halloween skit for Anything Ghost Podcast and  our podcast No Pro Audio. Starring Zach Dailey and Kevin Berry exploring a haunted house and guest starting is a creepy baby doll girl.

No Pro Audio

I've also been working on a script for a Graphic Novel. Not sure when I will actually get started on the Art but it will depend on my computer issues.

That's the main reason there has been delays in my plans because my computer one day decides it doesn't want to work so now I've gotta save up for repairs.

Until then I'm taking this time for mainly family, house chores and and a lot of Pokemon White and Walking Dead.

I might do some sketches and stuff here and there but until I get my computer back the projects will have to hold.

The podcast is put on hold but I'm gonna try out a different computer until we get mine fixed. I still have that as a chance to keep some sort of plugs or progress moving and making the best out of the situation.

Other than that these are projects I do want to finish but I'm not gonna overload myself or stress over it. Thea are just projects that are like hobbies.

But enough about me... How are you?

I'm wanting to hear about other people's projects just a way to stay connected.

Alfonso's Demo CD (WARNING! this will make you cringe!)

OK so a guy at work has been slamming out these demo CD's of his "rap" and plans to take this as a full time career. (lol)

Now let me give a little background info on this dude before I let you listen to his... "rap"...

First I found out about this guy through my wife when he was working with her at the time that he had released this demo CD and I have heard nothing but negative reviews left and right coming from the lovely employees. They say and I quote, "Zach it's horrible..." or "He has no rhythm or timing what so ever." and "it's like basic rapping but at it's worse. It is seriously a sad peace.".

Now Alfonso has no car and no need for this job anymore and decides to leave his job to take his "rapping" career full time and yes he is very serious about it. So months later we find him working with me at my job and now his demo CD has made it all around my job with my fellow co-workers.

Now everyone that I work with has heard this CD before me and I've already heard about this CD long before he started working with me and well you can guess what people are saying about it...

"Dude it's so bad!", "It will make you laugh!", "You're not missing much..." and so on and so forth.

I just had to get my hands on this CD and I was so anxious to hear just how bad he was and I had to hear this for myself. The guy told me how recorded it and get this... He records his songs through a tape recorder, a cell phone and his laptop and the beats he found on Youtube.  On one song you can clearly hear that the song was not bought or made by him because you could constantly hear the creator play it's production logo over and over throughout the song.

He asked me if I wanted to buy a copy and I told him I would rather try it before I buy it and he said he has been getting nothing but positive feedback from people and truth be told they are all sadly lying to him to make him feel better because he is a nice guy and they don't want to hurt his feelings.

SO! Finally I received a copy of his work and I was so excited to hear just how bad it was that I immediately put it in the car CD player so I could listen to it on the way home from work and sadly it didn't play. I figured maybe it would play on my computer and when I brought it home, popped it into my computer I was sadly disappointed because there was nothing on it. A... Blank... CD...

Now before he gave me this CD I warned him I was harsh with my criticism and I wouldn't lie to him but shoot him straight and let him know my real personal opinion and if I found anything wrong with it I would make a list for him. I told him this because I make music too and yes I'm no professional nor do I plan to take my music seriously or full time because I know where my talents stand BUT I DO have an opinion and I DO know what to look for and what not to look for in music or rapping.

After I had received the blank CD I have never seen or heard from him again and just today I asked where he went and know one knows. Maybe what I said to him is why I got a blank CD and why I've never seen him again.

I guess i've scared him off... But anyways I finally found a copy of his working CD's in the break room and I have listened and laughed and cried and cringed.

I guess he is moving on to keep pursuing his "rapping" career.  I'm glad I sampled it before buying lol.

So without further delay please enjoy all sixteen songs.

Time to tell you what I think! HA HA!

I am going to make a list from A to Z or one through God knows how many numbers I will be adding of what I personally think about his "rap" songs.

1. Needs an original beat. (In other words please don't use other peoples creative work and if you do please buy it and if you steal it then make sure the song doesn't contain the Artist's production in it. where they repeat their production over and over again.)

2. There is no rhythm to your music. (Following the beat over and over again and is not what a rapper does when rapping. Think of your voice as a new instrument that incorporates a new sound to the music.)

3. Timing, timing, timing... (Your timing is waaaaay off especially is some parts where it's very noticeable. Take Track 3 for example...)

4. Find your rapping voice. (Using your real voice doesn't seem to be fitting your work and it is really off and it sounds like a white nerdy hick instead of a black guy.  if you're trying to portray a "Thug," You need to provide a thug approach. Come up with a new character with a different voice.)

5. Quality... (The quality was really bad and when I say that I mean it obviously sounds like you are recording all your music through your computer speakers and through a cheap microphone or your cellphone or a tape recorder. I know money can be an issue with most people these days and you need to make do with what you have, but there are a lot of free and very good programs out there that will record in better quality than that.

Find yourself a real microphone one that isn't cheap and one that has a better bit rate. Quality is important for audio work especially if you are considering on taking this professionally. In order to go pro you will need to buy pro software.)

6. Lyrics don't make since. (A song is supposed to tell a story weather it's a rap or not. Everyone tells a story in their work and there is no story in any of your songs whatsoever. All it is, is a collaboration of words mixed in with yeah and stutters to make yourself sound hard.)

7. Chorus. (A chorus in a song or in any song especially rap is very important and it's a great way to break the song and change up the harmony and your song through out different parts to keep it interesting and not stale and boring like I am listening to the same thing over and over again.)

8. Be original. (Don't try to sound like someone else and if you are using a beat that is already made then try to take that beat and make it sound original.)

9. Adding effects or intentional effects on your voice. (There were a lot of parts where I noticed you were trying to add in effects with your voice by making them yourself such as repeating one word over and over again. That is what recording and editing software is for.)

All in all if I had to rate your music I would rate it a one out of five and that's me being very generous and the only reason why I give it a one is because it made me laugh. That it...

I'm sorry to sound so cruel with my criticism but that how criticism works and if you don't listen to what people say or think or ask for the honest truth then you will never progress.

Trust me... I have had a lot of harsh and uplifting criticism in my time when submitting my Graphic novels off to publishers and I DO listen and read everything they say because they are right.

Do I think you will go pro? ... No...

Don't give up and don't get mad if this is a hobby you do enjoy.

SO what did you think about this? Did you like it or did you hate it?

What It's Like

This blog has officially been reborn! I've decided to delete all my old posts and restart this blog with my current updated protects.

First of all let me tickle your curiosity by telling you a little about me and what I'm all about. Like you really want to know and honestly this blog will most likely not be read until some of these projects are released to the public.

If I finish them that is...
That's something else I will get into later on in this blog post.

I always trying to create something new and enjoyable for people to consume and to be entertained. I have created a lot of comics over the time and I have self published only two comics.

Over the time I have learned a lot of what to do and what not to do these days while coming up with new projects and either finishing them or not. I've spent eight years of my life following a pipe dream that at the time I had no idea what to expect while deluding myself from reality.

My dream in life was to be a full time comic book Artist so I could never work another nine to five job ever again while staying home all day drawing and writing while playing games and watching movies and listening to podcasts.

Man... What a dreamer I was ha! Well after wasting eight years of my life chasing this old dream of mine I eventually I realize just how miserable I really was taking a hobbie that I enjoyed doing as a kid and turning it into a forced labor nightmare.

Now I'm not saying don't follow a dream or try to do something g with your craft but what I'm getting to is know where your talents lay and where you really are on a professional stand point and know your flaws and your potential. Never follow a pipe dream and never obsess over a talent that may possibly become much more but to understand its just something you do for fun and not for money nor for a future career.

So I've learned to re prioritize my life and my standards and I've put myself on a two year long hiatus. In doing so it has done two things...

1. Help me realize what's really important  in life and to recreate my passion and love for my hobbies.

2. Made me lazy... I find it really hard to keep myself dedicated and motivated in something these days because I've become so used to enjoying the simple things in life like family, friends and fun.

Now this isn't nessasrly a bad thing because I've been down this road before and I've been able to put myself back to the top of creative passion but the thing is I still have the abilities to do what I need to do these days because of all my past experiences and projects I've finished and the good 98% of projects I haven't finished.

Yes anyone who knows me especially my wife and closes friends can tell you that I tend to overwhelm myself with tons of projects that I would most likely will never finish nor get around to starting them. So now I've had to learn the hard way to start small and slow and know I can't do every little thing that pops up in my head even if it is something I know that could be gold.

That's the one bad thing about being an Artist or a Writer or Creator... There's so many things you wanna work on and release to the world yet you don't have enough time in this world to do them all and that's something I think all people to quickly come to terms with. Otherwise you're just gonna suffer in your own creative mess...

Soooooo!!! Now that that is all said and done let me go ahead and try to quickly explain what this blog will actual be about. I'm using this blog to help put other people in the shoes of a Starving Artist's life so you can understand the joys and the hardships and Artist has to deal with while creating new stuff.

I will also be posting up other people's work such as local Artist's or people trying to do something with their hobbies that or throwing out my own personal critisizem about something.

Not that I have much to say and most people would get offended and say I am no where on the level to be giving an opinion but who cares. I have an opinion and I dare them to stop me from thinking the way I do.

There I go again thinking that people will care lol. No I dot have self esteem issues but I'm just being realistic.

So welcome to the blog and I hope that you enjoy it because I've got a lot of stuff planned out for this blog.

ENJOY!
